I've paused my life in New York City for a bit and I am home in Missouri cooking and loving on my family. I am more exhausted than many of my busiest weeks in the City, but I am happy to be in this house with these people that I love so much. Circumstances here are like a boiling pot that needs to constantly be watched. Hopefully, things will be reduced to a simmer in the coming weeks and life for my family will feel more manageable. (One of my favorite American proverbs: "It is good to remember that although the teakettle may be up to its neck in hot water, it continues to sing.")
I was going to skip All Good Things this week because nothing was written, no recipe planned, and I'm just so tired. My sister and I put our parents to bed and I picked up my phone to look at the photos I've taken this week and they seemed kind of profound. I wanted to share. Maybe they'll stir up memories of your childhood home. Or bring to mind a special time when you got to give special attention to the ones you love. You might even be inspired to make a bunch of comfort food and fill your freezer to have meals for the coming weeks!
If you've got some room in your heart, a free slot on your prayer list, or good vibes to spare, the Adams Family needs the love!
